Ezekiel 16 - On the Day You Were Born

5. On the day you were born,
you were unwanted,
dumped in a field and left to die.

4. On the day you were born,
no one cared about you.

6. But I came by and saw you there,
helplessly kicking about in your own blood.

As you lay there,
I said, ‘Live!’

7. And I helped you to thrive like a plant in the field.
You grew up and became a beautiful jewel.
Your breasts became full,
and your body hair grew,
but you were still naked.

8. And when I passed by again,
I saw that you were old enough for love.
So I wrapped my cloak around you
to cover your nakedness
and declared my marriage vows.

I made a covenant with you,
and you became mine.

9. Then I bathed you and washed off your blood,
and rubbed fragrant oils into your skin.

11. I gave you lovely jewelry.

12. A ring for your nose,
earrings for your ears,
and a lovely crown for your head.

13. You looked like a queen, and so you were!
You looked like a queen, and so you are!

15. You thought your fame and beauty were your own.

New Living Translation (NLT)
Verse 13 'are' orig. 'were'.

Wanted/Unwanted

When I was born, I know my parents had been eagerly awaiting my arrival. I was lucky, I was wanted.

Nowadays, it almost seems like babies, infants, are regarded as an inconvenience, a nuisance. A careerbreaker, a dealbreaker. Something that messes up your life. In the Netherlands we actually had a political party trying to pass a bill that says abortion is a human right.

Well, Ezekiel 16 paints another picture.

This baby, (people of Israel), was dumped in a field and left to die. Abandoned, unwanted, discarded.

Then God walked by, took her in. He cared for her, protected her, clothed her and eventually married her. It didn't stop there. He bathed her, rubbed sweet smelling oils into her skin. Gave her jewelry, treated her like a queen. He went out of His way to make her feel wanted. To make her feel loved.

But it wasn't enough. She started to believe she didn't need God and went her own way anyway.

Similar thing happened to me. I went my own way.

For the longest time I felt like I didn't belong. I didn't fit in. Wrong time, wrong planet. I felt unwanted and started to believe that lie.

It ultimately led to deep depressions, feelings of suicide, addictions..

But all that time I was wanted. If not by my parents then at least by God.

In Isaiah 46: 3 God says something amazing: "I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried you before you were born."

God carried you before you were even born (!)

Jeremiah 1: 5 says: "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb."

Let that sink in for a bit.

Whatever the enemy tries to convince you off, you are wanted. It may seem like a mistake. But God already carried you and knew you before you were born.

I know we're supposed to cut the umbilical cord. But I suggest we never cut the spiritual umbilical cord that connects us with God ("Remain in me, and I will remain in you").

Let Him feed you with His truth, His love, His Word. That way you will always feel wanted and loved.

PS Next week, at the Spirit's request, no new release. Why? We don't know. BUT, October 10th, a VERY special release. Can you guess?
