Isaiah 51 - I Comfort You

12. I am the One who comforts you.
So why are you afraid of mere humans,
who wither like the grass and disappear?

15. For I am the Lord your God,
who stirs up the sea,
causing its waves to roar.
My name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

16. And I have put my words in your mouth,
hidden you safely in my hand.

1. Listen to me, all who hope for deliverance—
all who seek the Lord!
Consider the rock from which you were cut,
the quarry from which you were mined.

New Living Translation (NLT)

We're back! With a whole new series of Bible songs, eagerly waiting to impact the world! 🔥

Did you miss us? :)

These last two months, I've been revisiting the book of Isaiah. I've read it like you would eat a box of delicious chocolates, or in my case, a really juicy and tasty mango: slowly and intently savoring every word.

People who know my story know that this Project of Love started when I was reading the book of Isaiah, Isaiah 12 to be precise.

There's something about this book. I can't explain it; it just draws me in. This time was no exception. It was like visiting an old friend.

Together with the Spirit, I've written dozens and dozens of new Isaiah songs. So, the book of Isaiah, part II is in the making. ;)

Our last song, "Rest," was one of those new songs, and today's song, Isaiah 51 - "I Comfort You," is too.

When I read this, I was deeply moved by God's love and compassion. I heard somebody say once that the God you meet in the valley of the shadow of death, you will never meet anywhere else.

He is a Comforter. In Isaiah 51, He asks why His people are afraid of mere humans. Have they forgotten who God is? Don't tremble for people. They are here today, gone tomorrow. But God will always be God. He started this thing, and He will end it.

And He reminds His people: you don't have to go it alone. Let me care for you; let Me comfort you.

It's no coincidence that Jesus' first public scripture reading is Isaiah 61, verses 1 and 2.

You know what's in there?

Isaiah 61:1-2 NLT

[1] (..) He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted [2] (..) to comfort all who mourn (NIV)

God is a healer, a helper, a counselor, but also a Comforter. And sometimes you just want to be held. But when God comforts, He also restores.

It's like Jesus says in Matt 11: come to me, all who are weary and carry heavy burdens; I will give you rest. There's something in the exchange.

Don't believe me?

Check out Isaiah 61:3 (NIV)

(..) a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

When God comforts, He restores and gives you an upgrade. 👌😉
